Autumn Trends

Much to my delight, there’s a real chill in the air.  I’m so sick of the summer wardrobe I don’t have (that’s probably what the problem is) Whilst temperatures are still fairly high the breeze is cool and the mornings and evenings require slippers!! Some pieces that I love and will be wearing over the coming months will revolve around looks such as long sleeved floaty dresses, oversized shirts, soft loose fit trousers, loafers and hopefully I will be able to get my high tops out again soon (I miss them). Some autumn outfit inspo for an array of occasions. Shop directly from links below.

Statement Sleeves that wont land in your cereal bowl..

I do love the statement sleeves but there are so many that really look like all they are good for is an Instagram pic.  Here Im bringing you the statement without the stress. You will get the wow sleeve factor, whether it’s full, frilled or bows, but you can still eat your lunch without the stress of wondering what your sleeves might be dipping into.

Tuesday Talk…

Having skimmed through some of the AW17 NYC & London shows its clear to see that colour colour and more colour is everywhere.  There is no real trend happening just that different fabrics from velvet, tulle, silk and lace to metallics, embellishment and prints,  and styles from decades past are all on the horizon.  I think it would be pretty accurate to say just about anything goes really. And I think that’s wonderful as that is what fashion is all about, from that, individuals can create their own styles.

One trend I am talking about today is Gingham! I do love a bit of gingham but at the same time I feel one needs to tread carefully when choosing to dress in gingham, lets remember gingham has dressed many a tea table and jam jar for decades. If the incorrect garment is chosen and styled badly then you’re not going to be doing this trend or yourself justice.  My high street hits below.

If you know the styles I go for as often as possible you will know this style ticks all boxes, floaty, full sleeves, great length and such a cute fabric to match although it’s not a cute dress, I feel the style of the dress really balances out the fabric ensuring its not too girly. Especially worn with a pair of converse 😉 Buy here

If you’ve got a long torso, finding the right jumpsuit can be tricky, usually the Tall department is where you need to shop.  This Jumpsuit looks super cool and again could go from the office with heels and a blazer, straight to the beach with slides.  LOVE – shop here

My favourite skirt

I have to say that my favourite thing to wear at the moment is a flowty midi skirt.  Its such a win no matter what shape you are. The only thing you need to watch out for is probably the fullness.  I feel as Im a bit shorter I prefer a skirt with less volume, if wearing a fuller skirt then I have to be wearing heels.   The styles out there are endless, from pleated to button fronts to tie waists and deconstructed, the list goes on.

If you have bumps and lumps you wish to hide, it does that and if you are straight up and down and you wish for curves it can give you that too.  Other reasons to love it other than being super flattering on everyone is the comfort levels of this style skirt is up there with PJ’s.  You can sit on the floor with your legs crossed, you can climb a ladder in it or wear one to a wedding, dress them up, dress them down. VERSATILE is what Im getting at.

It just so happened that all the skirts you can shop below are black. But really go mad with print and colour, wear it with logo tees, printed jumpers, sneakers, whatever!

Shop them below and get outfit inspo further down the page 😉

Jan/Feb Pick Me Up

This really is for my Northern Hemisphere friends but the principle can be applied everywhere around the world of course.

I’m doing one for the colder climates right now because whilst we all need a pick me up in Jan/Feb no matter where we live, the one thing I can say is that I never used to get as sick of my outfits as I did living in London by January.  Coats, jeans and trainers or boots, day in and day out.  A good idea is to layer up different weight jackets and gillet’s to not only give your heavy winter coats a break but to make things a little more interesting.  I have chosen a few items as an example of what you could do differently whilst still keeping warm.

Outfit 1: For my first choice I have a cool pair of step hem crop jeans, wear a warm crew neck jumper, then pull on the utility jacket, roll up the sleeve once to show the jumper sleeve, and then add the faux fur long waist coat for extra warmth and style.  Wear a pair of square toe ankle boots for extra style creds and possibly a fedora if you’re into your hats and accessories.

Outfit 2: This warm long sleeve fitted top underneath is perfect under all sorts, ware underneath the dress, add a leather jacket and biker boots or and ankle boot to dress this look down and keep you warm whilst still looking great.

For something totally different, invest in a non skinny pair of leather trousers and Im pretty sure you wont regret it.  Pair these with a plain top and simple shoes, be it heels or flats. Tuck this cashmere jumper in to show off the lovely waits-band and wear with a pair of suede sneakers or loafers to add edge and comfort on a cold day.

Leather Trousers here // Cashmere Polo Neck Jumper here // Suede and leather loafers here

The key pieces of these three looks (Faux fur Waist coat, Maxi Dress, Leather Trousers) can all be dressed up and down depending on the shoes and accessories you choose. A good way of finding new outfits is looking through your wardrobe and finding something that you wouldn’t normally wear on any given day and pair it with a contrasting staple from your wardrobe to give it a new lease on life.

Have a happy week!
