I stumbled upon the most magnificent mismatched pair of sandals this week (featured image) and after hunting them down (they live in Australia…) I have come to the realisation that I may not be able to own a pair, down to tricky sizing, getting them here, risking them not fitting after getting them here, not being able to return them and having a lovely pair of incredibly expensive sandals sitting in my closet. And on second thoughts, maybe all that would be worth it in the event that they do actually fit, in which case the mission and cost would totally be worth it.
Whilst I feel none of the below even slightly compare to these beauties (in my eyes) here are some pretty cool easy going summer sandals that can be found on the high streets of SA. I personally love a tan coloured sandal, I think it complements “a tan” and goes with the entire wardrobe, style permitting.
These knotted slides below are extremely comfortable and look way better on than off, I LOVE them! Link to UK site but can be found in SA stores.
Good for wearing with Tea dresses, floaty skirts, feminine clothing and jeans alike.
Winners for comfort – Solillas. They come in a massive range of colours I do love these sparkly ones. I haven’t come across this brand in SA yet but I have seen replicas in other stores (can’t guarantee the comfort of the non- Solillas however)
Looking forward to perfectly pedicured tanned feet again 🙂
It’s always quite strange going from winter wear to summer wear, when a boiling hot day springs itself upon us, I always feel completely unprepared, apart from having no tan, I feel like I’m walking around in my underwear when wearing a pair of shorts. Some relaxed not so “bare” ensembles to ease you into spring. Create a wardrobe that you can easily mix and match that won’t only make daily dressing a whole lot easier, but also packing for weekends away. Where you see a scarf, try something new and wear it on your head like a turban à la Mira Duma sported rather frequently this summer. As always click on links to shop direct!
In my opinion formal dress code in winter is by far the most elegant. I love a long sleeve and whilst I find covering an arm up definitely formalises an outfit, its a combination of the style and the fabrics that bring it together perfectly. It is almost impossible not to look chic in all the dark jewelled winter colours, mixed with the luxurious fabrics of velvet, lace, suede and silk, its a sensory overload of texture. Winter is the perfect time of year to send out your posh party invitations.
If you are attending a wedding or any event this winter that requires a higher level of formality and sophistication, that you just won’t hit with a pair of jeans, then be prepared for the onslaught of options.
Layer Up – get onto this trend and wear a skirt over a dress, I love this look and with the correct dress and skirt fabrics and styles you can easily keep this look formal and warm. Love how she brings her look together by matching her lipstick with her shoes(left).
Incorporate your jacket into your outfit, so it’s not a throw on after thought. You can then happily wear it all day knowing it works.
Go Long – wear a statement maxi skirt with a cosy jumper tucked in.
Don’t be afraid to wear trousers. There are some great jumpsuits out there too which is a wonderful option and looks super chic.
I’m a big fan of the monochromatic look for formal occasions. It’s smart and impactful. Make sure you add some spunk to the outfit with a fun clutch bag, killer heels, bright lip or interesting accessories. Shop any of these looks below by clicking directly on the links.
Dramatise this look with a nude lip, smokey eyes and black or burgundy nail varnish!
