The Shoe Edit

How many times have you had the perfect outfit but just haven’t had the shoes to go or seen someone looking great only to look down at their feet and just thought how horrendous their choice of shoe was… Shoes are sometimes the trickiest part of pulling the outfit together and can often ruin an outfit, probably because we don’t have an endless supply of colours, styles and comfort to work with the many various outfit options going on in our wardrobes.  Some people are shoe people and others really struggle to find good shoes. I find this such a problem with so many clients, everyone has trouble finding good shoes, when budgets are real, good quality options are limited.  Another thing I find is so many people have feet issues, whether its a different feet sizes, issues or injuries meaning they cant wear heels, feet sweating in synthetic materials, broad feet, narrow feet, extra high arches, bunions… you get my drift.  Some general tips would be to always buy real leather (if possible), comfort is key and its very obvious when someone is uncomfortable in their shoes, the shoe style suiting a body shape, and also not just following trends in shoes.  Just because your foot doesn’t have a “big bum or skinny legs” scenario doesn’t mean anything goes.  If the shoe style does not suit you, don’t buy it!

Some just despise shoe shopping, so I’ve done the shoe haul.  There is a serious shoe game out at the moment. Enjoy this browsing experience made easy, from high street to high end, trendy to classic, there’s a shoe or two out there for you (;) ) ! Happy shopping X

Must Have Summer Sandals

You know how our Grandparents love to say “they don’t make things like they did in the old days”? Well Salterwater sandals proves exactly how well things were made in the old days and luckily for us they are still making them just as well. These sandals are true testament to how well things were made in the old days.  These classic sandals which have been a staple in America for over 70 years, now being spotted on a number of celebrities and their children, from Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung to Romy Mars and Ruby Maguire.  If the comfort and hardiness of this sandal aren’t enough to get you hooked, then surely their celebrity status is.

I was emailed by a stockist in SA and asked if I knew the brand and would I try a pair out for them, I was so excited and jumped at the opportunity.  Having been in the UK where they are very popular and have been for some time, I certainly did know the brand and I’m delighted to now be the owner of a pale gold pair.  Whilst I knew of the shoe, I had not tried them on before, neither did I know much about the brand, I read up about them and have realised just how amazing these sandals are.  It has made me want to write an essay on these quality little gems but I won’t do that to you, however I do want to share the highlights of these sandals with you:

The buckles are rust proof!

They can be thrown in the washing machine

You can run through the sand and sea in them (the leather is water resistant and the buckles are rust proof!) Making them the perfect sandal for wet or dry conditions.

They mould to your feet after repeated wear (meaning these sandals are made for absolutely any activity)

They have an array of colours to choose from

They have a kids range, so you can have matching sandals to your kiddies 🙂

If you haven’t got yourself a pair for this summer, do yourself a favour, find your local stockist or order a pair online! Tip: they are quite a small fit, so if you are a half size, then go up to the next size.

Have a great week everyone and lets hope summer arrives soon!

Favourite Finds of the week

There’s nothing quite like dolling up an outfit with an awesome pair of shoes, it’s got to be the simplest way, no matter what your shape or skin tone, everyone can just about get away with any type of shoe they like, provided they know how to pull them off.  Remember shoes can make or break the look…

These floral satin loafers are seriously doing it for me

We’re heading into short season, which can be quite scary but how gorgeous are these little shorts, just perfect for pairing with any favourite tee and tan leather sandals.

I love the structured blouse with a twist, its so cute I’d want to wear it everyday.  Link directs to au website but can be found in stores in SA

Shoulder cut out top here

You would have gathered by now my love for this military green but I LOVE this, the green, the lace up, the silk detail. Imagine how good with a pair of white jeans…

Anything boho goes but this little frock, love love love!

Embroidered dress here

I am a big fan of blue, its safe to say it’s one of my favourite colours (I don’t think it has anything to do with the high levels of testosterone around me everyday) and I am loving all the blues out for summer, its such a great colour for sun and sea, lakeside or river.

The Comfy Commuter

I call this post the comfy commuter as its the perfect shoe to wear on your daily commute if you travel via public transport and have to cover a fair distance by foot.  But really the shoe that goes with any outfit, smart or casual, I just luuuurve to wear this shoe.  The shoe in topic is the sneaker.  This particular post hones in on the neutral sneaker that will go with everything, will not make an obvious statement, but more of a subtly cool one with its muted tones.  It will also ensure the feet feel extremely comfortable, happy and stylish.  Heaps of inspo to get you going places faster 😉

My top picks of the most classic, understated but very cool looking sneakers to go with absolutely any outfit.  All neutrals but a different style to suit every taste.

If you like to keep things a bit more classic and understated then these are certainly for you.  Think the cream chino and blue blazer kinda gal, the clean, neutral finish goes with everything from your white shirts and trenchcoats to your black pencil skirts and blazers (because as the classic understated dresser, that is what you should have in your closet ;-))…

Slightly trendier, think boyfriend coats and ripped jeans, however this will also pair well with your grey knitted dress.  For that added height and extra bounce this is sure to tick the boxes for the fast paced

Nike Air Max

Now these bad boys cannot be taken lightly, you need to be a serious sneaker junkie and you gotta wear these with swagger.  They are the Aston Martins of sneakers.  High end and a hefty price tag. Give me a metallic something on my feet any day but choose from a wide selection of colours

Golden Goose Deluxe Brand

An old favourite, the high top gives it more edge than its low top sister. I’m a big fan and believe every shoe closet needs a pair (or 3 if you are me) The original chuck taylor of Converse

I’ve already featured Nike but I am in the market for a pair of these (as I am for all of them I guess)

 Happy Shoesday!

I’ve been wanting to do a post on summer shoes and seen as it’s Tuesday, I thought today would be quite apt! Summer shoes to get your hands on now before they fly off the shelves.

The Mule – this is probably THE shoe of the season, comes in many different shapes and forms but the basic definition of the mule is a slide on shoe with no back. Seen on many a celeb and fashion blogger. Wherever you look, there’s a mule! Worn stylishly below by the gorgeous Julie Sarinana. Click on shoes to shop!

The Espadrille – Soludos have to be my favourite, the only down side, choosing a design, they are all so gorgeous, how does one choose! Oh and did I mention the comfort? Like slippers! Two of my faves (but actually not they all my faves)

The Ghillie lace-up – another hit shoe of the season, anything lace-up really, whether it’s flat, high, open toed or pointed, as long as it’s lace-up! There are many good re-makes of the Aquazzura shoe who brought it to life. however the Aquazzura’s, as gorgeous as they are, do cost in excess of £500!
