I don’t think about it all year around and then spring arrives and I see it all over and reminds me that even though I never wear it and think I don’t really like pink, I actually do. I love pink. Who doesn’t like pink!?! So this was reiterated again when this last week I spent quite a bit of time with a client who really loves pink. She’s one of those true pink fans, you know the ones that need to be told that they don’t need another pink tee, and their response is “but it’s not the same” 💕💗 I mean it in the best way possible. She loves every shade of pink. I want to thank her for reminding me how gorgeous pink is and how some shades really do compliment my skin tone! If you think you cannot wear pink, think again. Everyone can wear pink you just need to pick the right tone for your skin, so whether it’s rose, blush, fuscia, cerise, salmon, coral, magenta (the list goes on) there’s one out there for you.
Last year I spotted a gorgeous dress, I loved it for the style and not the colour (so I thought) then I tried it on and fell in love with the pale rose colour. However I did not make the purchase, I couldn’t think of an occasion that I was going to use it for so very sensibly put it back (doesn’t sound like me at all) and I kind of regret it! I have picked out some pretty pink items that I love and hopefully you do too.
Casual Comforts is how Im feeling right now. The temps should be warming up later in the week, and gradually more so as April inconspicuously springs it’s pretty self upon us, but as we transition across to Spring it’s difficult to start breaking out into skirts without tights, short sleeves and god forbid we need to get those winter feet out into sandals! This outfit will keep you at the perfect temp, has the right amount of ventilation without showing any skin but still looking stylish and slightly sexy in a comfortable manner, no?! I love the flattering jeans with the wide weaved knit which has a lowish V-back. You will be hitting the ground running in the style steaks with these open sided shoes which are bang on trend, again feeling less wintery but without really putting the white feet on show completely! Grab your hand held clutch and a chunky ring and you’re looking ever so covetable. Remember feeling comfortable is the key to looking confident and good. It’s my pleasure!
Isn’t it amazing how turquoise is always so consistent. Its almost on parr with Navy. The obvious colours like black and white are always in, navy too is always about, but Turquoise is not often a hot topic, yet it always looks so gorgeous no matter what form it comes in. The beautiful shade comes and goes like the tides but is never unobtainable and is usually more prominent in pages of Vogue around the summer months, however its so classical and chic too when brought out in the form of a ring or necklace to add a pop of colour to a dark outfit in winter, as Cate Blanchett so gracefully showed us at the 2015 Academy Awards with her Tiffany Blue Collection necklace (below). That was one of my favourite outfits of the night, so simple but so elegant, effective and SO glamorous!
Some of the hottest turquoise to be purchased right now, from Industrial kitchen stools to Converse & Missoni’s new collaboration Converse All Star’s (LOVE) all in my little collage of possibly my favourite colour (next to grey)….
Try adding a pop of turquoise to your decor or outfit this week and see how you will love it. The shade suits everyone! Oh and don’t forget to check out Le Creuset’s Spring 2015 collection of cool mint kitchen ware, I adore it all.
Look out for my pop of turquoise this week on Instagram;-), follow me @nixcarloni
It’s time for another work wardrobe boost. The weather is really hotting up here in London (most days), I know its scorching in NY and around Europe. For my friends in SA and Oz, if you are feeling a little chilly, put these in the bank for a sunnier day!
Cool easy to wear outfits that look smart and feel light and easy are a breeze to be in. It’s so refreshing to throw something on and look amazingly chic, but the process has been completely effortless. That’s what I want to help you with here. Three simple but gorgeous work outfits that will take you into the evening. We know how crazy the social life is after hours during the London summer.
If you’ve got great clothes but don’t have the shoes to match, there’s really no point. Shoes can ruin a look completely. I’m generally more comfortable i flats, especially in summer (surprising for me as I haven’t been blessed in the height department). Here are some of my chosen shoes for summer that will take your feet from same old to saucy. There are some unexpected styles creeping back in, do not mock the Birkenstock as they have come back a lot cooler and chicer than they were in their past. I will certainly be investing in a pair this summer! Pick your pair for chill-in, cruise-in or shmooz-in for under £150!
