50 Shades of Blue

Denim is branching out into bags, shoes, belts and more. This is not the first time we’ve seen denim heels on the streets but I guess each time the trend reappears the actual denim jeans that we are sporting are themselves in a different phase. There’s a lot trending in the way of denim at the moment and if you are enjoying your skinnies, boyfriends, girlfriends, ripped or even flared then you’re spot on. The great thing about the large variety of styles trending right now is that it’s difficult to get bored of wearing your jeans when we can mix them up so, a different style for each day of the week!
I’m looking for a great pair of white jeans at the moment. Now I don’t know about you but I personally feel that unless you have the skinniest of pins, with a gap the length of a small ruler between your thighs and a perkier butt than Gisele, the White skinnies should be left for the runway. So I’ve started perusing the girlfriend line of jean… this is not too baggy and not a straight leg either, maybe it’s neither here nor there but what I’ve tried I have liked ūüôā and the pair I’m probably going to put my money on is this¬†Current/Elliot pair.

Some denim items to covet now are endless but for now make sure to get yourselves one, some, or all of the following:
A denim jacket J Crew
A denim dress Stella McCartney (currently looking for a cheaper version of this beauty)
Denim dungarees Zara
A denim skirt Net-a-Porter
A great pair of ripped, girlfriend or boyfriend or 70’s flares (for the more adventurous) Some faves: Straight Leg¬†J Crew¬†// Flip flop Flares Current/Elliot¬†// Patch work boyfriend¬†¬†J Crew¬†// Ripped Zara¬†// Skinny Maternity J Brand
And if you’re feeling up to it, a denim play suit Mango

I leave you with some Looks to Love below.

You go off and have a rethink about this reputable blue cloth now! ūüėČ

Fall Must Have’s

I cant believe we thinking of cooler days and new wardrobe essentials already. The summer went way too fast but thankfully there’s still lots of sunshine about however it wont harm to be prepared for when that first wintry chill decides to surprise us and we can tackle it¬†head on without panic or shivers. This fall its all about mixing and matching your basics with your bling. Think Sport Luxe again. Pair a sequinned skirt with a casual sweater or Jogger¬†trousers with heels and a blazer. But more of that and how to style the outfits to come so watch this space. For now lets concentrate on what to add to the wardrobe.

Boots Рa knee length pair of riding type boots are a must for wearing over your favourite skinnies or skirts of various lengths. This season brown is bigger than black.  A pair of chelsea boots will never go a miss, wear them for a more casual look. The tassel loafers are great for the office and weekend wear.

A Firm Favourite

Ever heard me say every closet needs a denim shirt? Well every closet needs a denim shirt!!!! So many ways to wear it and you will look instantly cool….

1)Wear buttoned up for a Texan vibe (not recommended in summer)

2) Wear it unbuttoned to mid chest with sleeves rolled up and very open for a cool summer feel with shorts and a pair of ultra chic shades.

3) Wear it completely unbuttoned over a cami or dress as a little jacket

4) Wear it with jeans for the trendy denim on denim look

5) Looks amazing with leather!

Just wear it however you feel comfortable!  Some of my favourites available to purchase below:

On a separate note. If you have been wondering why my blog posts have decreased of late, this is because I have taken on a slightly different type of styling project. ¬†I am trying my hand at interior decorating and am working on 3 apartments at the moment. I’m thoroughly enjoying it and whilst it’s still creative and design, it’s a lot more technical than dressing! This is what’s taking up most of my time at the moment (other than my son ;-)‚Ķ I will update you with the project as we get further along the line and may even post some pics of the finished project!

Hope you are all having a happy week!

Tennis Attire

One of my favourite events on the British Summer calendar has arrived. Wimbledon. I haven’t been for a about three years and I plan on going this Wednesday with some friends. I live about 2 km’s from the entrance so it really is silly not to make the effort. ¬†The entire village is just buzzing with excitement and everyone is out and about in a festive mood.

I would say there are two types of dress code for Wimbledon, they are casual for the people that queue and sit on the grass or stands and then those that are going into the corporate area, members, and guests of players who should probably be dressed a little smarter. ¬†I’ve been lucky enough to benefit from being invited to the corporate area before, endless drinks and food are served, lots of shaded umbrella’s, for when you are not watching a match and most importantly seats to either Centre Court or Court #1. ¬†No matter where you are going to be sitting, queueing or not queueing, you will never be completely sheltered from the possible chance of rain, so always take a rain coat or umbrella. ¬†I would also recommend a hat or wear sunblock, the British summer, believe it or not can be scorching (which it has been lately) and if the forecast is 24 degrees, it actually feels like 30 degrees. ¬†Whilst I sit here and type up this post I have just looked out the window and I see big dark grey clouds forming and a few minutes ago I was burning in the sunshine, so the weather is unpredictable and will change at the drop of a hat, so be prepared.

Here are two selected outfits, 1 for the casual visitor and the other for a smarter look but still feeling comfortable and cool.

Slide2Crochet Panel Jumpsuit Topshop // Handbag Zara // Earrings Anthropologie // Sardinia Espadrilles J Crew

If you aren’t lucky enough to be attending in person, a great way to get into the spirit is to throw a wimbledon party, get together for a match, serve strawberries and cream, Pimms and Champagne and all wear tennis attire ūüėČ

Beach Basics – Less is More

Every year when we go away on holiday, I always, always overpack! And whenever the next trip arises, I seem to forget how much of my suitcase went unused the last time we went away. ¬†I find especially on beach holidays, this is always the case! This time my husband said to me, we are taking 1 suitcase (between 3 of us)!!!! 20kg’s!!!!! My response: are you crazy‚Ķ and started rattling off everything I needed to pack for Oliver, but I was actually panicking more about what I could pack for myself. ¬†Then I remembered how little we actually use when we go to the beach, cozzies, and not much else is actually needed. I am also now pregnant again so hardly anything fits me, that was another saver as I literally had to pack what I could get into (not much). I have compiled a few¬†holiday essentials for the average girl out there planning a chilled beach holiday with no dressing up.. ūüėČ

You don’t need more than 3 sunblocks, one for the entire family, one for the face, this Clarins one we love as it’s non oily and works really well. ¬†I like a spray for my body rather than cream, its easier and quicker to apply. When it comes to make-up, as with everything else, less is more. ¬†All you need is a tinted moisturiser and a good lip balm. ¬†Forget the mascara, blusher, hair spray etc, it all slides off in the heat anyway and sea water does wonders to give you those bouncy beach curls. Do ensure to condition everyday to protect the hair.

2 or 3 bikinis/costumes is ample. Make sure you can mix and match the tops and bottoms and it will feel like you are wearing a different one everyday. I always take more bottoms and maybe two tops but make sure the bottoms can go with all the tops. Get a mix and match of your favourite tones going.

Dress or playsuit cover ups are easy to pack and it means you are packing one item rather than tops and bottoms. Easy to throw on too when going from beach to restaurant.

Shoes, Hats, Accessories etc. Use your beach bag/basket as your hand luggage, as they are nice and big you can chuck a lot in there. ¬†Wear your clumpiest shoes for the journey (my feet also get cold on aeroplanes so I always like to wear closed shoes). Wear all your accessories and your hat ūüėČ These sarong’s are the best, they are so useful, can be used to lie on at the beach, dry yourself with them, use it as a scarf/pashmina or just as a sarong. I have gazillions of them in different colours but really you just need one.

Denim shorts are just like jeans for summer. They are an investment! You will wear them year after year. Find a good pair that suit your figure. They come in so many different lengths and styles and like jeans can be dressed up or down, worn with heels or flats and never crease or show the dirt.
