Summer Outfits Sorted

Here in the UK I find we all look forward to summer for so long that when it comes around we get completely carried away with the line up of events that we book our diaries full to the brim, that living life for the few months over summer can be quite overwhelming.  If you’re a mummy or have a hectic full time job, studying, travelling or whatever else consumes all of our very busy lives we seldom leave much time for outfit planning let alone shopping.  Who wants to be in the shops in 35 degree heat!  I know when I have events to go to I don’t get around to thinking about what I am going to wear and then last minute between handing my kids over to the babysitter and trying to get showered and changed I always end up grabbing whatever, the end result is never exactly what I was hoping for or wanting to achieve.  This is why I recommend when you do have an hour at home catching up, go through your wardrobe and style some of your favourite pieces together so that you can ensure they are used to their best potential and also not forgotten about if they are packed somewhere at the bottom of your closet (that always happens to me).  Then summer ends and you find all these pieces that you completely forgot about.  I would also recommend this for packing to go on holiday, take pics of outfit combos and then you hopefully wont under-pack or over-pack and when on holiday you can quickly find exactly what you want to wear.

My boys are both having a little nap and this literally took me 15 minutes, including the time to find the items and pack everything away.  Unfortunately one of my staple accessories, my tortoise shell round framed Tom Ford sunglasses were missing in action for this shoot, and they would most definitely have been featured in some of these shots.  I am yet to find them so lets hope the sticky little fingers that have probably taken them off know where they can be found too 😉

Straight from my wardrobe using mainly old and some new items shows that shopping is not always the answer for another party, lunch or vacation, just have a good look around what you already have and you will find some great combinations.  These are mainly casual outfits that I would take on holiday but it still helps on a daily basis to have an idea what to pull on.

Excuse the photography…. My aim from this post is to inspire you to go through your wardrobe, do the same, take shots of outfits that you like so that when the next day comes you can look at your phone, pick an outfit and boom, your’e ready to go. Styling made easy!  These are real clothes from a real mums wardrobe (mine), not glam over priced designer items that we look at everyday on-line but are so out of reach that dressing well can sometimes feel out of our depth.

Sometimes planning ahead can seem boring and a bit of a pain in the butt, however you will save yourself scrambling around, wasting time and certainly money too.
